Tattoo news: May 2026 — pt.2

MY Tattoo Studio, Dnipro · May 15, 2026

The second half of May in Dnipro is when clients start thinking about summer looks and open clothing. In the studio we're seeing demand for graphic solutions, minimalism and colour accents that look good on tanned skin. Here are three timely topics for the month.

🖊 Blackwork geometry: crisp lines and volume

This month in Dnipro requests for blackwork with geometric motifs noticeably grew. Clients pick saturated black, graphic shapes and ornamental compositions on the forearm and calves. The style looks strong and concise at once — legible from a distance.

  • complex mandalas with sacred geometry elements
  • stripes and patterns as the base of a sleeve
  • minimalist figures with fine detailing inside
  • dense fill combined with negative space
💡 Geometry forgives fewer mistakes than organic shapes — pick an artist with a confident line.

📌 Ukraine's tattoo scene levels up

In recent years Ukrainian artists have appeared more often in international selections and joined guest tours abroad. Styles that are developing in Ukraine — from ornamental to neo-traditional — carry a recognisable signature and their own aesthetic. Dnipro too is seeing more studios working to European sanitary standards.

💡 Ukrainian tattoo artists today aren't "catching up" — they're setting their own trends.

💡 Summer tattoo care: what to know

Warm weather isn't a reason to skip a new tattoo, but aftercare needs more attention. Sun, beach and sweat can seriously affect healing quality if you don't follow a few simple rules. This especially applies to fresh work in the first 3–4 weeks.

  • avoid direct sun for at least 3 weeks after the session
  • skip open water and pools until fully healed
  • use SPF 50+ on a fully healed tattoo
  • moisturise more often than usual — heat dries skin
  • wear loose clothing in natural fabrics
💡 Quality summer healing = bright colours and crisp lines for years to come.
