Laser tattoo removal: price, process, how many sessions
Laser tattoo removal is the modern and safe way to get rid of an unwanted tattoo. In Dnipro this service is getting more popular each year — it lets you fully remove or lighten an old tattoo for a cover-up with a new design.
How laser tattoo removal works
The laser penetrates the deep layers of the skin and shatters the pigment into tiny particles. Over time those particles are cleared out naturally through the lymphatic system. The procedure is minimally invasive and, with proper aftercare, doesn't leave scars.
- Q-switched laser — the most effective technology for removing most colours
- Picosecond laser — works faster and handles stubborn pigments
- Nd:YAG laser — safe for various skin types
How many sessions you need for full removal
The number of procedures depends on many factors: tattoo size, pigment depth, colours and age of the piece. On average, full removal takes 5 to 12 sessions. Between procedures there's a 6–8 week interval for the skin to recover.
- Black and dark blue tattoos — the easiest to remove, in 4–8 sessions
- Colour tattoos — need 8–12 procedures (more on colour tattoos)
- Fresh tattoos (under 1 year) — may need more sessions
- Amateur work — often comes out faster than professional work
Often it's more effective to do a cover-up instead of full removal — we discuss this at the consultation. Pricing — in the separate article on how tattoo prices are set.
Laser tattoo removal price in Dnipro
The cost is based on the tattoo's area and complexity. Studios in Dnipro usually price per square centimetre or by size category. Bear in mind that full removal is a course of procedures, so plan your budget in advance.
- Small tattoo (up to 5 cm²) — from 300–500 UAH per session
- Medium tattoo (5–15 cm²) — from 500–1000 UAH per session
- Large tattoo (over 15 cm²) — from 1000 UAH and up
How to prepare and what to expect after the procedure
Before the session, avoid tanning for 2–3 weeks and don't drink alcohol for 24 hours before. During removal you feel prickling or a light burning — most clients tolerate it without anaesthetic. After the procedure the skin can redden and slightly swell.
- Avoid the sun — protect the treated area for 2–4 weeks
- Don't pick the scabs — let the skin heal naturally
- Moisturise the skin — use the recommended products
